Using The Myself® Trainer has made a difference in self-confidence.
CLINICAL STUDY
55 healthy women with bothersome incontinence, ages ranging from 25-81 years, with
a mean age of 54, were recruited for the clinical trial. 44 completed the 16 week
project. The group consisted of women with stress (7), urge (8) and mixed (29) incontinence.
Women actually averaged 2 sessions per day; 14 did one session a day; 7 performed
3 sessions a day.
At the end of the 16 week trial, 43% of the women were dry; 39 % noted a greater
than 50% reduction in leaks per day. The group mean for leaks per day was 2.9 initially;
at the end of 16 weeks, the figure decreased to 1.1. Voids per day for the group
was initially 10.8; this decreased to 8.1 in 16 weeks. Women who could do the three
sessions per day trended towards greater improvement.

RESEARCH STUDY
OBJECTIVE: In May, 2008, Jarden Consumer Solutions commissioned a marketing
research study to evaluate the satisfaction and usage experience of incontinent
females using The Myself® Trainer including:
- Overall assessment of usage experience and ease of use
- Satisfaction with the therapy on reducing urine leaks and frequency of urination
- Participant satisfaction of results
METHODS: This was an eight week, online research study of 116 self-identified
incontinent females ages 25 – 70. Study participants were instructed to use The
Myself® Trainer for six consecutive, daily, 5-minute sessions, with a
break on Day 7. Participants were asked to maintain both a daily diary of their
usage and weekly log of the number of urine leaks and urination frequency along
with any comments relating to their usage experience. Outcome measures were online
surveys; one at the start to record baseline incontinence data, one at Week 4 and
one at the end week 8 of the study period. Quantitative and qualitative data were
analyzed over the course of the eight-week study.
RESULTS: Respondent use of The Myself® Trainer (as reported) averaged
close to the recommended six times per week. The Myself® Trainer usage
declined each week but resurged in Week 5 and remained strong through Week 8. On
average, urine leaks & urination frequency recorded weekly in respondent logs steadily
declined over the course of the study.
- Urine leaks per day declined from 3.6 to 1.4 (61% decrease).
- Urination frequency declined from 8.6 to 6.7 (22% decrease).
Severity ratings designated by respondents improved, especially in the last 4 weeks
of the study. The average severity rating dropped from 5.2 in Week 1 to 3.0 in Week
8 (10-point scale).
Mean satisfaction scores in Week 8 were high overall at 4.2 out of 5.0. Reasons
for satisfaction ratings in Week 8 were reported significant physical improvements
and greater peace of mind.
- 4 out of 5 of respondents completely/somewhat agreed that The Myself®
Trainer “is a good alternative to other solutions for incontinence” (mean
score: 4.3 out of 5.0).
- 4 out of 5 respondents completely/somewhat agreed that “Overall, using The
Myself® Trainer was a positive experience” (mean score: 4.2).
- Over 3/4 of respondents completely/somewhat agreed that “ I was comfortable using
The Myself® Trainer” (mean score: 4.1).
- Over ¾ of respondents completely/somewhat agreed that “The Myself® Trainer
has helped me improve a significant problem in my life” (mean score: 4.1).
- Almost ¾ of respondents completely/somewhat agreed that The Myself® Trainer
“helps make my life more manageable” (mean score: 4.1).
- Almost ¾ of respondents completely/somewhat agreed that “Using The Myself®
Trainer has helped me feel better about myself” (mean score: 4.1).
